High Voltage Laboratory
The High Voltage Laboratory specialises in the measurement and testing of equipment and components of Electric Power Engineering and is the largest of its kind at a university in Australia and New Zealand.
Research is based on understanding electric field and high voltage phenomena, developing innovative equipment for the electrical industry and new technologies which use high voltage concepts in their design.
Measurement Systems:
- Partial Discharge
- Tangent Delta/ Power Factor
- Insulation Resistance/ Polarization Index
- Oil Dielectric Strength
Specifications:
- High Voltage Test Supplies: AC Test Voltage – 400 kV, 200 kVA, 50 Hz; HVDC Test Voltage – ±400 kV DC, 50 kVA; Impulse Test Voltage – LI & SI – 1400 kV @ 70 kJ
-
Low Voltage Supplies: Static Frequency Converter – 500 KVA, Grid Simulator – 60 KVA
