Manaaki Whenua Toxicology Laboratory
The MWLR Toxicology Laboratory offers a range of tests for vertebrate pesticides currently registered in New Zealand for territorial local authorities, private pest control companies, other laboratories, government departments and universities. The laboratory also provides support for research conducted within Landcare Research and overseas. The services include routine quality assurance testing for baits being used in pest control operations. This includes assay of active ingredients and bait materials, lure content, moisture content, assessing colour and stability. Environmental monitoring of pesticide residues in a variety of matrices including weathered baits, water, soil, meat, eggs, and milk, in suspected poisoning cases. Monitoring of human healthsks in workers in the pest control industry for 1080 exposure.
